QUAD-mania comes to Bob’s for TWO days only, Monday and Tuesday, June 25th and 26th. Drop in at Bob’s to see the astounding BMW powered 4-wheelers created by GG Motorrad Technik of Switzerland. Two different models will be displayed, and you’ll have to admit, there aren’t many other vehicles on the planet that come close to the excitement these specialized high-performance street runners generate. There’s definitely quite a buzz going around about them. Those who missed the chance to see them in person here last year have been telling us ever since how anxious they are for another opportunity. Well, this is it!

A representative from the GG Technik company will be here to answer questions. Test rides will be available to qualified riders who have a serious interest in owning one of these limited production vehicles. And for the rest of us? Well, even if only to gaze upon the GG Quad in fascination, or to sit on one and dream of the possibilities, the visit here will be well worth the effort.

Enjoy a preview of the Quad in this recent video! Lots of action and scenery (and a chance to brush up on your Deutsch). http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/videozone/VideoZone.aspx?v=980289708&t=979216194

Glen Heggstad, “The Striking Viking” at Bob’s BMW

Saturday, August 4, 2007

Continuing our Worldwide Adventure Series, mark your calendars to join us in August for an exciting two-hour, personal presentation that is sure to jump start your imagination into the world of motorcycle adventure travel.

Outfitted with a BMW F650 Dakar, Toshiba laptop, Sony digital camera and two Jesse aluminum panniers packed with what was left after selling all his earthly possessions, Glen Heggstad set out on two wheels with a sincere determination to meet the inhabitants of every corner of this earth face to face, look them in the eye and shake their hand. Far outside the comfort zone and beyond the bounds of what has always been assumed as true, life's stark realities confronted the “accepted” versions the media has presented. And through the course of his travels, Glen spent so much time in developing nations living, eating and sleeping with locals, his adventure became a soul bending metamorphosis worth sharing. The perils and pleasures along the way were recorded in Glen’s journals and will soon be available in book form. But right now, through his live presentation at Bob’s, with dramatic photos and electrifying narration, you will be able to feel every moment of a two-year, fifty-two thousand mile solo journey. Don’t MISS IT!

Looking ahead… on November 3rd we’re welcoming Michael Murray who will present, “The Road Less Traveled,” a multi-media presentation about his 5000 mile, entirely OFF-ROAD journey across America on a BMW F650GS! Stay tuned for details about this exciting event.

That’s right, Saturday, July 21st is Club Day at Bob’s and we turn control of the place over to some of the various motorcycle enthusiast clubs in our area. Our esteemed friends in BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington (BMWBMW) will be the host club and having their monthly meeting here first thing in the morning, but other clubs will be here as well, and look out, they’re coming after YOU. Seriously, if you’ve wanted to find others who share your interest in motorcycling, these clubs are one of the greatest ways to do it. Have some fun, connect to rides and other activities, and get involved in a way that’s good for the community. Come check it out, and as always, you’ll find great FOOD on hand and the best darn folks you could possibly hope to meet.

Whether you’re a world adventure traveler or just a biker who likes to be able to carry a big payload, the Jesse Odyssey Bags are among the most widely used gear for the purpose. Now at last, Kathy’s Journey Designs has the perfect bag liner system to complement the big Jesse aluminum side cases.

Two separate sets comprise the total system, and depending on your needs and tastes, you may only need one or the other. The main compartments are served by a pair of full size Side Case Liners ($129/Pair). Each bag is perfectly tailored to match the size and shape of its corresponding pannier, the right side being the wider of the two.

Each bag has an internal zippered mesh pocket, handy for separating contents, and an outside zippered pocket for small stuff that you might want to get at in a hurry, easy-to-use twin cradle handles, and attached D-rings for use with an optional shoulder strap. There is a BONUS bag included with the side case liners: a flat Stash Pouch that’s just right for the bottom of the left side case. You know how the narrow part of the left case that fits underneath the muffler makes sort of a little “cave” on the inside? Well, it seems those small parts and other bits that everyone has floating around in the bottom of the Jesse bags inevitably roll into that cave and become hard to retrieve. The Stash, with its convenient grab handle and big diagonal zipper, makes keeping track of all that little stuff easier— and tidier too!

The other part of the Jesse system is the Lid Liners ($39/Pair). These handy pouches are the perfect size to fit into the generous space inside the lid of each Jesse side case. They’re held in place by the removable flexible wire frames that come with the Jesse bags. Each lid liner has a carry handle on one end and a full length diagonal 2-way zipper which permits easy access to contents even when the bag is in its place restrained by the wire frame.

As with most all of Kathy’s products, these bags are made of tough, yet compliant 1000 denier Cordura® by Dupont, urethane coated for extreme water repellency. It’s unquestionably the fabric best suited for saddlebag liners and most other rugged gear for outdoor use. Kathy’s Journey Designs products are handmade and backed by an unconditional LIFETIME guarantee!
